Pages in the CMS are the individual documents that make up your website together with news articles and modules. They generally contain content and are linked to your website's navigation.
EdukaCMS allows you to create as many pages as you like for your website. To add a page navigate to the Pages section from the Dashboard and click on the button.
Step 1: Select a Template
Templates determine the layout of your website. The number of templates you have to choose from will depend on how many different layouts are needed by your website. Contact us if you think you would like to add a new template.
To select a template, click on the name of the template you would like to use. The selected template will be highlighted with a black circle.
Step 2: Enter a Name and Title
Once you've chosen a template you need to give your page a name and title. These two things may seem like the same thing, but your website uses them in slightly different ways.
The page's name is what will appear in the website's menu, URL and sitemap and is also how the CMS refers to the page. The page's name should be short and simple (keep it to one or two words if possible) and should clearly define the page's purpose ensuring your website is easy to use and find. You can always expand further using the Title if you need to.
The page's title is used by the CMS to populate the title bar in your web browser, and in some cases it is also used on the page itself. Search engines like Google and Bing also use the title of your page in the search results. Your page's title should be relevant to the content of the page, be less than 65 characters (up to 8 to 10 words is best) long to ensure the best results when displayed by search engines, and most of all it should be unique.
Step 3: Page Hierarchy
This is where you choose where the page you are creating belongs compared to other pages on the website. It's always a good idea to keep related content together and minimise the number of top-level navigation options. You can read more about the importance of site structure in the Tutorials section.
TIP: For top level pages, leave the parent as No Parent.
Step 4: Add the Content
Once you're ready click on to create your page and start adding content. This will take you to the Edit Page screen.
